A unified communications service from Google that uses voice over IP (VoIP). Using a person's existing phone number, voicemail messages are converted to text and can be read on the computer or as cellphone text messages. However, if users publish their Google-assigned phone number, they can decide which of their landlines or cellphones are rung depending on the caller. Users can also have Google ring multiple phones simultaneously. The Google-assigned number remains with the individual, who can configure Google Voice to ring different phones at any time. Formerly called "GrandCentral," voicemail, call blocking, call screening and other features are included. Inbound calls and outbound calls within the U.S. are free, and international calls are charged at low rates. For more information, visit www.google.com/voice.
